Mike Alvarado will be back in the ring this fall as the 303 area code native looks to return home for a big fight. Top Rank president Todd duBoef will be going to New York to talk with HBO about the possible opponents.
Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO) suffered a torn tendon in the middle finger of his left hand in his rematch win over Brandon Rios but had surgery after the bout and should be ready. The 32-year-old Alvarado has been one of boxing’s most crowd-pleasing fighters for the past few years but his two most recent fights have been classics. A name that is being toss around is Ruslan Provodnikov for the end of October or beginning of November.
