It was announce that a 24-foot ring will be used for the November 14 clash between WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao. Team Pacquiao requested the ring size during the negotiations.
Fighting in a bigger ring will give Pacquiao some advantage move, jump with combinations and jump right out before Cotto can counter.
“That might give the Filipino the advantage, but we are going to prepare Miguel in such away that he will be able to cut off the ring,” Cotto’s trainer Joe Santiago told Primera Hora. “Miguel is the stronger fighter and that is going to benefit us to get the win on November 14.”
Right after Santiago told the Puerto Rican Paper Primera Hora Top Rank’s Bob Arum immediately corrected Cotto’s Trainer by stating “I don’t know where this came from but it’s not true. In the state of Nevada, you have to use a 20 foot ring,” said Arum.
The regulations per the Nevada State Athletic Commission clearly state that every boxing fight must be fought in a 20-foot ring no more no less. You could apply for a 24-foot ring but I doubt the Nevada SAC will approve it.
So why would Cotto Team start such rumor I don’t know. What’s your opinion?

I can agree with you G, if Pacquiao does KO Cotto, it means he has bombs under those gloves, Cotto is very strong, never really being KO, he took a beating from Margo when down twice on the knee but he was not completely out, he has been down before but I know the guy can take shoots, and well also in boxing it takes just 1 good punch and fights can change in 1 second, I do think that a good clean punch from Cotto could put Pacquiao in very very bad trouble, but I think we have to many ifs in this fight, I think we’ll see a good battle.
The cotto team did not start that rumor. Pacquiao’s camp had REQUESTED for the ring size to be 24ft. Cotto’s camp is simply telling the media what PACQUIAO’S CAMP HAD REQUESTED!!!
Pacquiao is way to over confident. Cotto is just going to put his gloves up high and wait for pacquio to throw that big left, lunging in……………When he does, Cotto just has to hit PACQUIAO ONCE. jUST ONE TIME.
If marquez can hit and hurt pacquiao, IMAGINE ONe hit from Cotto. All it takes is one.

THE COTTO TEAM STARTED THE RUMOR BECAUSE THATS WHAT THEY WANT. THEY WANT ROOM FOR COTTO TO RUN WHEN HE GETS CLOCKED, LIKE WHEN MARGARITO CLOCKED HIM.
