With the recent drama about Roger Mayweather choking Melissa St Vil, a female fighter that he once trained, (click here to ready about it) many boxing fans are left scratching there heads wondering if a new trainer will step into preparing Floyd for his upcoming clash against Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
I’m assuming his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., will take over, I hope. Thru out Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s career, his family members have been by his side, from uncle Jeff to his father here and there, but the question still remains if this will affect his performance on Sept 19.
Roger was the head trainer and he was the one who worked the corner. Many die hard Mayweather fans will say “It doesn’t really matter who’s training him,” which at this point in his career, it doesn’t really matter, Floyd is the one who calls the shots when it comes to training. We have all seen the previous HBO 24/7, if he wants to train at 4am, he’s going to train at 4am! There’s nothing you can teach him that he doesn’t already know. With 39 wins and 0 losses, champion in five different weight divisions, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
