The current WBC lightweight world champion Edwin Valero is seeking to be approved for a boxing license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission in order to get the OK to fight in the boxing mecca. The results of an MRI will be reviewed by Nevada medical authorities and sources close to the boxer indicate that there are good possibilities that these results be favorable to Valero. The feared power-puncher was banned in the US by the New York boxing commission from 2004-2008 after an irregular brain scan, but continued his career outside the US to become a world champion. He has already been approved to fight in the state of Texas. There is talk of a Vegas showdown with former champion Joel Casamayor in September if all goes as hoped.
