Surprised and at the same happy for the 11th round KO of his charge Brian Viloria over long reigning champion Ulises “Archie” Solis last Saturday night to capture the jr flyweight WBC title, Bob Arum of Top Rank declared that he is looking for big fights for Viloria in the division.
He stated that one of them could be against the WBO champ, Ivan Calderon.
“We can do it here in the Phillippines by the end of the year,” Arum stated.
According to Arum, Calderon “is a very talented fighter with a lot of heart and I don’t think he would hesitate for second to come to Manila to fight Viloria. We will try to put it together for the end of ’09 and in the mean time Viloria can fight against another opponent and then do the mega fight against Calderon.”
Viloria mentioned that he has fought Calderon before in the Olympic trials. He remembers that they split wins.
Viloria did state that there is a big difference between professional and amateur and that he felt that a fight between would be highly interesting.
