By Lee Bates from Fightnews previously reported that former two-division world champion Zab Judah was scheduled to fight Jesus ‘Chuey’ Rodriguez on May 1st at the South Point Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, a hand injury suffered by Judah has stopped that bout from happening. As reported earlier on Fight news, Rodriguez will now face WBC #1 contender Devon Alexander April 24th on Showtime’s acclaimed Shobox series. Fortunately Alexander like Judah is a southpaw so Rodriguez’ preparation won’t be altered much. The main event will now feature Alejandro Perez (13-1-1, 8 KOs) against veteran Adolfo Landeros (20-11-1, 9 KOs) for the WBC International super bantamweight title in a bout scheduled for twelve rounds.
The bout will be a rematch from nearly a year ago where Landeros upset then-unbeaten Perez by split decision. English heavyweight Michael Sprott (31-13, 16 KOs) and unbeaten prospect Dean Byrne (10-0, 4KOs) will be featured in separate bouts on the undercard with opponents to be announced. More bouts will be announced shortly. Thell Torrence’s Platinum Entertainment is promoting the card. For ticket information call 702-233-8087.
