miguelcottosr_presser040908_cdelgadoMiguel Cotto Sr., father of the WBO welterweight champion and brother of Evangelista, is now in a difficult position in light of the recent events that have occurred between his son and brother.

“I have a lot of hope that all this will correct itself,” Cotto Sr.

stated to PrimeraHora.com in relation to the physical altercation that happened between his son and now his ex-trainer, Evangelista. “What we need is time and space to resolve what it is, a family matter.”

The events of last week are being reviewed by the Caguas authorities to determine if any charges are filed against either parties although Miguel Cotto and his uncle have stated that they do not wish to press charges.

“At least I know that he can continue his work. Miguel has always been a professional and he has always had the ability to seperate his personal problems with his work in the gym,” Cotto Sr. concluded.
