IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute and challenger Fulgencio Zuniga met at today’s press conference in advance of their SHOWTIME-televised clash clash on Friday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The Zuniga camp made some waves when promoter Alfredo Marchio threatened to pull his man out of the the fight if local referee Marlon Wright is assigned as the referee. The IBF has not yet announced the officials for the fight.
Former top contender Diobelys Hurtado (40-3-1, 25 KOs), now training out of Brighton, Colo., has signed to fight Carlos Molina (15-4-1, 5 KOs) at the Miccosukee Casino in Miami, Fla., April 3. The two will fight for the vacant WBA Latino welterweight championship. The Cuban-born Hurtado, fighting under Top Notch Boxing now, is hoping to get a title shot within one or two more shots, should he get by Molina.
