Rather than fighting on a Showtime card on September 6 featuring Chris Arreola and Seth Mitchell, Victor Ortiz will debut his acting career with Sylvester Stallone and UFC’s female sensation, Ronda Rousey in Expendables 3. The former welterweight champion is coming off two losses and a broken jaw from a year ago against Josesito Lopez. Subsequently, Ortiz appears gun shy about lacing them up again, and continues to pursue other mainstream avenues, to include Dancing with the Stars, rather than saddling up to get back in the ring.
I am starting to wonder if the kid will ever have the nerve again to step into the ring. I aint going to bash him for trying to make a buck and gain popularity through other ventures; however, he may be about to lose the last shred of hope and respect he had from any boxing fans he has left. I have went on record in the past to show some support for the unpredictable head case, but I am starting to get bored with with the once promising kid from Garden City, Kansas nicknamed “Vicious.”
Sometimes talent is not enough and the word vicious is a stretch for Ortiz right now. So often, we have all seen kids, athletes, and boxers with so much potential, just to squander it away. Ortiz, as a boxer, is still very young and has a lot of potential, but I am tired of talking about it. Potential is like opinions.
Everyone has it for something; the question here is what will be of Victor Ortiz’ potential? Is it gone in the ring, or does he have something left to give and prove with the gloves on? I am still not quite ready to throw the towel on him yet, but the time is getting close.

Hey…. I see nothing wrong with him marketing himself and exploring other careers or both. Many boxers have other careers and are still successful boxers – The Klitschko brothers both earned doctorate degrees and have come out on many German TV shows and commercials!
Go for it Ortiz do what you can while you can – including getting back into the ring!
Lol…how did I know!? You hit the nail on the head – he’s a head case. Few come back given his circumstances and time away from getting hit in the face. Ortiz is drifting and he’s smart to try and maake some bucks on acting.
