Live Boxing Featured at Quiet Cannon
SoCal fight fans will get their fill of boxing on FRIDAY, JUNE 28 when All Star Promotions’ live fight night ignites at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello.
The “Chatter Box” made the rounds at the weigh-in on Thursday to check out what’s on tap for this latest series with All Star Boxing & MMA. I caught up with show promoter Ed Holmes and matchmaker Pete Hironaka after the fighters weighed in.
“We have a great card for Friday,” Hironaka said, “including the main event with Ismayl Sillakh vs. Alvaro Enriquez scheduled for eight rounds!”
The All Star team mentions there will be seven professional boxing matches plus eight amateur Muay Thai fights scheduled for Friday night.
It’s a tradition in the local combat scene to kick off the weekend with some live fisticuffs. This summer bash in the San Gabriel Valley will feature pro boxing with Ismayl Sillakh vs. Alvaro Enriquez, Alexander Filichkin vs. Arthur Brambilla, Herbert Acevedo vs. Rynell Griffin, Terrell Williams vs. Bernardo Guereca, Troy Corbin vs. Roberto Valenzuela, David Thomas vs. Andre Ewell, and Jose Hernandez vs. Elliott Lemon.
Former amateur boxer Rudy Barragan was at the weigh-in and I chatted with the LAPD officer. His passion for the sweet science is as strong as ever. After the boxers stepped off the scale, Barragan and I talked about his work with Team LAPD, amateur sluggers that participate in charity fight nights. Their next event will be July 6 at the Los Angeles Police Academy. Rudy says the sport of boxing is a busy one in the city known for its love of the fight game.
On Friday night, the City of Montebello will be the epicenter of boxing for those in the valley with some sizzling action promised.
And for you kickboxing fans, there will be plenty of amateur Muay Thai exploding in the ring. There will even be a female championship match taking place between Renee Rosa vs. Natalie Morgan. Rosa and her team from Rancho Cucamonga said they are all looking forward to this battle.
I also spoke with well-regarded trainer Shadeed Suluki and his young, hungry fighters. Team Suluki also promises to put on a great show on Friday. Light heavyweight Ismayl Sillakh will be looking for his #20 victory as a pro and light middleweight Terrell Williams is aiming to remain unbeaten with his current record of 11 victories and 10 knockouts.
The evening will offer an explosive event with these confrontations in the ring. The athletes are a varied bunch hailing from the Ukraine, Moscow, Mexico City, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Las Vegas, Oxnard, Phoenix, Palmdale and more.
As the summer temperatures soar, the heat will rise in the ring.
Don’t miss the action!
