Despite their very publicized and troubled history over the years, Floyd Mayweather and his father will reunite and work together for his up and coming fight in May. The two are never at a loss of words or insults, particularly toward each other. However, with his Uncle Roger’s declining health, this is likely the most logical solution for the Mayweather camp to avoid any significant disruption or change at this point in his career.
That said, who is the most likely and logical opponent for the World’s P4P best fighter? Although Mayweather threw out a stir on twitter a couple weeks ago announcing Devon Alexander as the most likely opponent, don’t look for that to happen. It was more than likely a ploy to manipulate Robert Guerrero into taking less money for the fight; subsequently, making him feel more desperate and agreeing to Mayweather’s terms. My gut feeling is that it will be Mayweather against Guerrero on May 4th, and although unlikely, it is still possible to see Canelo Alvarez on the undercard.
If this is not the case and Mayweather disappoints as usual, I would like to piggy back off fellow writer Gabreal Gallegos, and stand fast that if Mayweather does fight Devon Alexander or any other less meaningful challenger, that boxing fans not support that type of promotion. It’s time for the Money King of boxing to be the true King of the Ring and give the fans what they want. I already have a my flight booked for Cinco De Mayo weekend; however, I will have no problem changing my itinerary for say, Rios and Alvarado II in Vegas a month earlier on March 30th at Mandalay Bay.
