A left hook landed in the fourth round that caused Morales’ corner to jump in the ring to end the bout in the first card to take place in Brooklyn since 1931. It’s the fall of 2012 and as the seasons change, so do legends fall. That said, as the leaves and legends fall, new ones begin to rise. Danny Garcia defeated Erik Morales for the second timethis year, but this time he put the old man out of his misery. Morales allegedly tested positive for banned substances before the fight, nevertheless the fight went on, and he still looked like Rocky and Apollo falling facefirst to the canvas in Rocky II when Garcia put Morales through the ropes last night.

Garcia moves to 25-0 and retains his WBC, WBA, and The Ring Light Welterweight titles with last night’s victory, so what’s next? There are a lot of good fights out there. Most notably, as a fan, I would not mind fights with any of the following: Lucas Matthysse, Josesito Lopez, Brandon Rios, or even Mike Alvarado. Another possible opponent could be a rematch with Amir Khan; however, Garcia already beat Khan by KO earlier this year.

Other results in last night’s card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York was a sleeper between welterweights Devon Alexander and Randall Bailey with Alexander winning a boring UD over Bailey; Paulie Malignaggiwinning a controversial split decision over Pablo Cesar Cano after going down in the 11th; and the fight of the night between middleweights Hassan N’Dam and Peter Quillin. Quillin won a UD knocking N’Dam down six times in the fight with each judge scoring the fight 115-107. Big fights should be in the near future for Kid Chocolate, the current WBO middleweight champ. I don’t think he is ready for the P4P list and current WBC champ Sergio Martinez, but maybe a title match against current IBF title holder, Australian Daniel Geale.

Lucky for fans, there are a lot of good fight possibilities between 140 all the way up to 165. I don’t know about you, but I am excited for what could be in store for the end of this year and 2013. Let’s hope the promoters do their job to bring what the fans want. Stay tuned. Who will be the next legend to fall? As far as Morales goes, I hope he hangs them up now. Don’t go out in some club fight in Tijuana, Mexico tainting your legacy even more. Much love for all the battles El Terrible has given us, but the time has come man. Hang’em up bro.

  1. @Boxing fan ..paulie always sucked is an understatement. its made worse by his braggadocio that he never backed up lol..

  2. Like Morales, Paulie needs to hang them up; he’s always sucked and to touch the canvas in your own backyard is a disgrace. Garcia looks hungry and I’d love to see him and Rios entertain us fans! Kid Chocolate is champ, but dam he looked like he wanted to quit…he’s lucky he had a couple of knock downs in the 12th otherwise he might have been done boxing for good. He needs to believe in himself and let his hands go because he’s got a wicked left hook.
