Brandon Rios who lost his lightweight title on the scale for not making 135 pounds recently announce on Facebook he will fight former featherweight titlist Yuriorkis Gamboa at 135.
“Boxing fans I would like to officially announce my next fight! April 14, 2012, Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa at 135lbs. Team Rios thanks for always showing me love and support. I love this sport and all the support is what drives me to train harder! Here we go Team Rios! Countdown to April 14 has begun,” stated Rios.
I been waiting for this fight for a long time, but at 135 pounds I am a bit concern. Rios was clearly having trouble making weight in his last fight. Rios paid John Murray $20,000 from his $325,000 purse, lost his title and didn’t eat for days.
Gamboa is no Murray. What’s your opinion?
Seriously, I don’t think Gamboa will go toe to toe with Rios unless he sees a weakness. I think Gamboa will jab a lot. Nonetheless, great fight.

Great fight, I think I anticipate this more than any upcoming fight so far, but I say Rios is gonna be too big for Gamboa come fight night. Props to Gamboa for making the jump up two weight classes to make a great fight happen. Cant Wait!

This should be a good fight ..they should have put this fight on Cotto undercard ..that would made this an even better fight ..I’m not a real big fan of Brandon although he is a good fighter I will be pulling for Gamboa…
