Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is currently training with Antonio Margarito for his first title defense on the same night Floyd Mayweather takes on Victor Ortiz, September 17 in Mexico against Ronald Hearns. If Chavez wins he will face Peter Manfredo Jr. on November 19, 2011.

Margarito is getting ready for his rematch against WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto scheduled for December 3rd in New York’s Madison Square Garden. Margarito-Cotto will fight at a catch-weight of 153, which is one pound below the junior middleweight limit.

  1. Chavez Jr. out with a hand injury, won’t fight Hearns. (what else is new) I thought he might save the injury excuse for fighting somebody like Rubio or Martinez. He was probably too lazy to make weight. WTF is up with the catchweight crap in the Margs/Cotto fight. They both can make weight I wonder whose idea this was.

  2. I see how much bigger chavez is than margarito, and they wanted this kid to fight Cotto. Chavez will tower over Cotto. Wow they truly were looking for the smallest Jr.middle weight with the biggest name they could find.

  3. I undestand Chavez fighting Manfredo, but whats with the chach weight in the Cotto vs Margarito? Why do they need a chatch weight.
