Nephew of the great Salvador Sanchez won a closer eight round split decision over Guadalupe Carmona (2-2) on Saturday night at the Don King Arena in Texcoco, Mexico.
Salvador Sanchez II states he had a fever and his trainer wasn’t with him for over a month in result of fighting a tough fight. Scores were 77-75, 77-76 for Sanchez, 77-75 for Carmona.
Trying to follow the foot-steps of the legendary name of Salvador Sanchez carries a lot of responsibility.
“It’s a privilege, a pride and above all a great challenge. It’s a difficult path full of obstacles to reach the top but on my own merits and effort I hope to achieve it,” stated young Sanchez during interview with Fightnews.
“Please give me time. I’m at a stage of learning and development. But I’ll give it my best and I hope to achieve my goals. It takes more than heart and courage and intelligence, one also need boxing experience. When the time comes, I’ll be ready.”
