After winning a 12-round unanimous decision over previously-unbeaten Luis Carlo Abregu, in his first legitimate bout as a welterweight, Timothy Bradley had the nerves to call out Manny Pacquiao.
“Tear down this wall Mr. Pacquiao! Accept my challenge, I am calling you out,” he said after defeating Abregu. “I’m a throwback fighter. I want to fight them all,”
First of why would Manny Pacquiao fight Bradley?
Is it because Timothy Bradley sells thousands of Pay-per-views? Because his undefeated resume of 26 wins?
Don’t get me wrong, Bradley is in the right path but it bothered me how he called out Pacquiao. He sounded so stupid, even Max Kellerman, HBO’s commentator, looked at him with a “WTF are you doing” type of look.
As boxing fans, we love boxers who can brawl. You could lose a fight but if show us that your willing to exchange, you will gain a huge fan base. Take Angulo, he has only has 19 wins but he’s so popular and constantly a feature on HBO.
Is not how you lose but how you lose. Bradley’s corner kept telling him not to brawl and at times Bradley will just stand there waiting for Abregu to swing. Bradley did land some stunning overhand rights but Abregu didn’t lose his composure and occasionally landed left hooks that would send Bradley back.
“He’s a hard puncher and my corner told me to calm down and not rush in,” said Bradley. “I did feel his power a little bit.”
Before I consider Bradley as a legitimate contender for Pacquiao, first I would like to see him beat Amir Khan, Devon Alexander or Marcos Maidana. Bradley was scheduled to fight Maidana but Maidana suffered a back injury in April which forced the fight to be cancelled. Word is that Marcos Maidana was given the green light to fight so it’s a possibility this fight will happen.
Was Timothy Bradley dumb by calling out Manny Pacquiao so early in his career?

Bradley is BORING!!!
Absolutely! This guy is stupid. Calling out Manny Pacquiao? Are you kidding me? Even PBF, one of the most skilled fighter nowadays is ducking the #1 P4P King.
You should be fighting Amir Khan and defeat him before calling out Pacquiao.
I agree that Bradley has to clean house in the 140 lbs weight class before challenging Pacquiao. I would have wanted him to fight Edwin Valero, but that’s not going to happen. Amir Khan is the next guy I would want to see Bradley fight.
You can’t just come up to welterweight and start challenging the top guy.
Unless of course you are Roberto Duran in 1980 challenging Sugar Ray Leonard.
Boxing Fans want to see the Best Fight the Best Why not?
Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter. The time is now to fight him. Why isn’t Floyd Complete Mayweather not have Fighting Pacquiao yet come on make the fight life is too short. I want to see the winner of that AWESOME Classic.
“Please make it happen”!!!
@Ras I agree!
Even HBO’s commentators said only the hardcore boxing fans know about Bradley.
Yes, Very Dumb. He is an unknown to the casual fan. Which are about 60% if not more that buy major PPV fights if both names are big fighters. People Will buy Pac fights because of PAC no matter who he is fighting but im not sure about this one.
I got fooled into buying PAC/Clotley. You fooled me once but you wont fool me twice!
