Convinced that is ready to conquer another world title, former bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez stated that he is ready to fight in an elimination bout against Tijuana’s Juan Carlos Burgos if need be to earn the right to challenge the current champion Elio Rojas of the Dominican 
Republic later this year.
Jhonny (44-7, 38KOs), who is ranked at #2 by the WBC in the featherweight division, is one step behind Burgos who is at #1. Both fighters are awaiting word from the World Boxing Council as to when they might face each to see who will go after Rojas who has not fought since last Feburary when he defended his title against Guty Espadas Jr in Merida, Yucatan.
“I don’t have any other goal but to be the featherweight champion of the WBC,” Gonzalez stated recently. “If I have to eliminate myself against Juan Carlos Burgos, then I am ready.”
