Weight-in for Cotto-Foreman open to the public

On Friday the Official Weigh-In for “Stadium Slugfest” at Yankee Stadium will be open to the public and admission will be free. The gates to the Great Hall will open at 2:30 p.m. with the main event and co-main event stepping on the scale, beginning at 3:00 p.m., followed by the undercard. Concession stands selling food and fight merchandise will be open.

Cotto and Foreman will fight for the world super welterweight championship, Saturday, June 5 on HBO Championship Boxing.

In other boxing news it appears there is finally an agreement for Fernando Montiel to defend his WBC and WBO bantamweight world titles against former WBA super flyweight champion Rafael Conception on July 17 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico. In the co-feature, super featherweight prospect Joksan Hernández is lined up to face Rogers Mtagwa. Also seeing action is Salvador Sanchez Jr. Montiel is already training for the bout in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Sources report that an agreement was reached after the Concepcion had initially rejected the first offer.
