Jones was the long-time pound-for-pound champion, who came out of the 1988 Olympics as the Most Outstanding Boxer and went on to win titles at 160, 168, 175 and heavyweight. In 2003, he became the first former middleweight champion since Bob Fitzsimmons106 years earlier to win a share of the heavyweight belt.

Jones will need to prove if he still has it. Jones will face unbeaten light heavyweight star Joe Calzaghe in two weeks from now and personally I think Joe Calzaghe is going to take it by split decision. Jones shined like a new penny when he toyed with Felix Trinidad at the beginning of the year. Roy Jones Jr. has lost 3 of his last 10 fights, twice to Antonio Tarver , once by unanimous decision and the other via TKO in round 2. He also suffered a KO by Glen Johnson. I think Calzaghe’s power and pin point accuracy will determine the result of this fight. Roy Jones Jr. was in New York City on Tuesday to officially

announce the under card for his November 8 clash at the Madison Square Garden. The under card has a strong New York presence featuring Brooklyn’s Zab Judah, Dmitriy Salita and Francisco Figueroa from the Bronx. Figueroa will go against former WBA light welterweight Gavin Rees.
