On Friday, February 19th, Dan Goossen of Goossen Tutor Promotions & Kathy Duva from Main Events will hold a press conference to announce the April 24th clash between Chris Arreola and Tomasz Adamek titled “Ring of Fire”.
The HBO Boxing After Dark telecast is set to take place in Arreola’s Southern California neighborhood, the Citizen’s Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
From experience, I tell you its an awesome arena, like a mini Staple Center.
Fan favorite Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (17-1-14Kos), who was born in Baja California, Mexico, will be the co-main event as he takes on Joel Julio (35-3-31Kos) from Colombia as they battle for the Interim WBO middleweight title.
This will be awesome night of boxing.
In other boxing news, Cristian Mijares had to pull out from a February 27th card in Cancun, which has been cancelled and replaced by a world-class show in Guadalajara, Mexico, on “The Double Assault” pay-per-view extravaganza.
Mijares sufferered a broken eardrum from his previous fight on December 12 which didn’t heal properly and doctors wouldn’t clear him to fight.
Instead, the revamped PPV show now features two world championship fights from Guadalajara, presented by Boxeo De Gala, to replace the Cancun card that was to be headlined by Hugo Hernan Garay vs. Chris Henry.
The 12-round main event finds WBA light flyweight champion Rodel “Bantang Mandaue” Mayol (26-4-1, 20 KOs), rated No. 2 by The Ring, defending his crown against the WBC No. 1 contender, former WBC light flyweight titlist Omar “Giant Killer” Nino (28-3-1, 20 KOs).
Also airing from Guadalajara is a 10-round WBC Youth lightweight championship match between defending champ Daniel “Tremendo” Estrada (21-1, 17 KOs) and veteran Angel Alirio “El Morocho” Rivero (21-7-1, 14 KOs).
The unique, double-barrelled broadcast is being distributed in the United States and Canada by Integrated Sports the pay-per-view event has a price tag of $34.95.
