The unbeaten Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KOs) dethroned Antonio Tarver (27-5, 19 KOs) via twelve round unanimous decision in a clash for Tarver’s IBF/IBO light heavyweight championship at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Tarver was uncharacteristically aggressive, but Dawson was faster and more powerful as he dropped Tarver in round twelve the score was 118-109, 117-110, and 117-110.
The Dawson camp is riding high – manager Mike Criscio bet $70,000 on Dawson to win, laying $2.70 to win $1 at the Belaggio down the street – and they’re dreaming big dreams. But when you have an athlete like Dawson who can fulfill those dreams is not a risky bet. Â I am curious to know how much Floyd Mayweather Jr. betted since he was there supporting Dawson.
Ah Floyd floyd floyd… To be honest, who the hell needs Floyd Mayweather now?, What we need for boxing and for our enternaiment is boxers like Chad Dawson, who can put on a show, not just round around the ring afraid of get into a fight.
Floyd knew there were some tough times ahead for him with boxers like Margarito, Gotto and new comers that he would have to face eventually, so he took the easy way out, with no defeats, but in a way I’m glad he did, with the way the sport is right now, we need young and not so young talent that can put on a show, that can elevate boxing to the sport ones was, were they used to fight for pride, not just for money like our little boy Floyd did.
