Coming back from a 21-month layoff, multi-division world champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) took a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KOs) in a welterweight clash on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bigger, quicker Mayweather dropped Marquez in round two with a left hook and pretty much had his way the entire twelve rounds. Scores were 118-109, 120-107, 119-108.
WBA featherweight champion Chris John (43-0-1, 22 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Rocky Juarez (28-5-1, 20 KOs). John outworked Juarez over the first eleven rounds, but was rocked by Juarez in the twelfth. Scores were 114-113, 119-109, 117-111. John and Juarez previously battled to a draw in February.
In a clash for the vacant WBO interim lightweight title, Michael Katsidis (26-2, 21 KOs) pressured Vicente Escobedo (21-2, 13 KOs) for twelve rounds to claim 115-113, 118-110 win on two cards. Escobedo was ahead 116-112 on the third card.

Aw man hear we go again w/the weight being the excuse! Stop it! So u mean to tell me the weight made the difference?? When we all know floyd lacks the ko power, the fight would’ve went the same way regardless of weight. Floyd was nd is just too much for marquez period! Just give him the credit. So cotto fighting pacman is an exception?? There’s a BIG weight difference there as well, don’t hear any complaints about that 1. @ 1st I gave jmm respect but I take it back after hearing him continuously use the weight as an issue, if anything the additional weight should’ve of slowed mayweather down. Well clearly Floyd dominated Marquez, it was also clear that Floyd was much bigger than Marquez and that made that fight impossible for Marquez to win,
I do think that even if they were at the same weight, the tremendous speed that Mayweather possess would have been enough to win the fight by what he displayed last Saturday.
With that said and as you guys can see, there is no excuse there, I will say this, Max said it 100 % right when he came down from the ring after that crazy interview and said Floyd took this fight and even came in heavier than the 144 contract weight, because he knew he could do this and then say Hey look at what I did to the great Marquez, the future Hall of famer who almost won (or won) against Pacquiao, that’s how it seems, but @ a totally different weight than Marquez natural one, yes Marquez was the one who called Mayweather out, and that is why I have much respect for him, he has the “cojones” to try to go up in weight and beat someone who is bigger and faster, Mayweather should man up and fight Mosley or any of the other real welterweights out there, how many fighters have called Mayweather out? out of all of them he picked the smaller guy and not only that, he came in much heavier than he should have, it’s a no brainier.
He has much talent, but he needs to start fighting everybody, showcase that talent to be called the best ever, not “oh well I need to talk to my promoter and manager before I can fight someone who is my size and looks like has a chance to win.
After this fight I really don’t want to see Mayweather vs Pacquiao, I want to see Mayweather Vs. Mosley, those are 2 fighters who fight @ the same weight, no excuses there, no one is the little man, no nothing, make it happen, show who is the best, fight them all, I’m sure that with all that talent he can do it, he can beat him, don’t take the easy fights Floyd, man up!

Please don’t use the word “ignorant” when you can’t spell. By the way, it was not just the weight but did anyone notice that Mayweather fights with his elbows. It is an absolute horror to see the way he fights. I kept hearing the commentators talk about skill but I didn’t see anything special other than the fact that he was totally mismatched. Even though Marquez lost, he has alot more style and grace. I really do beleive also that Mayweather should be fighting someone his own size. I wonder why he doesn’t want to fight Mosley??
